Assembly Bill SB 457: Minor Consent to Vision Care (Menjivar and Ashby)

This bill would allow minors 15 years of age and older to consent to their own vision care without their parent or guardian’s consent, provided certain other conditions are met. California Family Code section 6922 already provides that a minor may consent to their own medical or dental care if the minor is: (1) 15 years of age or older, (2) living separate from the parent or guardian; and (3) managing their own financial affairs.  This bill would add vision care to that list.
